Hao Lane in Halswell / Kennedys Bush – Hao is a Te Reo Māori word for a shortfin eel. Shortfin eel (Anguilla australis), are a quite large type of eel, dark olive to olive-green in colour, and whitish-grey to silvery ventrally. They are widespread in lowland fresh waterways and live under cover of overhanging rocks and debris.
A reasonable of information from the council minutes and nothing that I can add about the name of the street. The street is too new for the library website and for maps. There aren’t any houses here yet.
